Andrea Janovic is a 2005 graduate of Salmon P. Chase College of Law. She practices primarily in Campbell, Kenton, Boone and Pendleton Counties. Prior to becoming an attorney, Andrea studied conflict and dispute resolution among populations in the Middle East. She lived in Egypt and Saudi Arabia while doing her doctoral fieldwork on the legal status of women. She has taught anthropology at the college level, which she finds very rewarding.

First elected in 2004, in 2008, Andrea Janovic was re-elected to serve on the Newport Board of Education. Andrea hopes to use her varied personal and professional experience to help develop the Newport Independent School system into the best small urban school system in the country. Andrea believes that the diversity of race, religion, economic class and cultural background are not obstacles -- but the strengths of the Newport community -- that can be used to propel Newport into being the most dynamic city in Northern Kentucky.

In the law, Andrea has a special interest in pursuing the rights of fathers to be actively engaged in the life of their children. She also has experience in pursuing Grandparent’s Rights. Andrea is an avid supporter of the right of a child to be breastfed and to not be forcibly weaned under one year of age by order of a court – which she is committed to seeing crystallized into law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the earliest opportunity. Andrea is also involved in efforts to combat the sexual trafficking of children here in the United States and abroad. She is a member of organizations aimed at protecting the rights of children and promoting education, justice and human rights worldwide.

Andrea is the mother of two children.  She lives and works in Newport.
